Home is where the art is

There's a lot going on right now. Working on a poster for a musical, a project with another artist, learning french, starting up with forever aloe vera, the possibility ambassadors and of course making things. So I went back to my roots at "island land" to get a break from everything. Decided I was gonna do nothing, which turned out to be quite difficult. I ended up making these neck pieces and two braclets from something called "zpaghetti" (stretch fabric) that I got at the weavers fair 2011.

Shoulderloaded little black

When I went to India I fell in love with a roll of sequin decorations that very much looked like the eyes of peacock feathers... in gold! I stitched them on by hand onto this dress I made, one by one. This is no longer just any little black dress with shoulder puffiness overload! (Shoulderload?)

You should atleast once in your life atleast sew something by hand. It will help you put things in perspective. In India alot of things handmade and it's so cheap it makes me want to puke. Still people keep on dickering because they just don't get how much work is behind it all. Please, show some respect for the crafts.

SiDEKiCK!

When I found the small brass hangers (commonly used for hanging up decorative embroidery pieces on the wall) on second hand it gave me a smashing idea and after hanging out with the brother (my sewing machine) for a while it was complete - An adorable little purse just waiting to accompany you to the next party! The outside is a fabric I have woven in a pattern called "goose eye" and the bright fabric on the inside are supposed to make it easier finding things in your purse even when you don't have the right light. Still what I like the most about it (besides the pocket inside) is that you can put your ring and middle finger through the two bigger holes in the hangers to make brass knuckles so (if you need to) you can defend yourself.

Trinity Tiger Top

The favorite pieces in your closet are usually the ones you can use in several different ways. This stretchy top can be tied either in the front or in the back... or you can just leave it open! Also (to make up for all the sleeves that have been too short in my life) I decided to make them super extra long. The trinity tiger top goes with a great deal of the stuff in my closet, but I think I will make a black one too. We all like the little black one.

A space mission

Mission: Take some old clothes
and design something new from it.
You got one week.
GO!

I slaughtered 4 knitted tops and a scarf
to make this cozy space dress
as a tribute to the designer Sandra Backlund.
