Protests, feminism, revealing clothing and opinion. Women demanding the same rights as men. This sounds in some ways like today, but I'm talking about the roaring 20s and the women suffrage. The 1920s and 30s is an important time, not only in terms of fashion but also in EQUALITY through women rights.
In the US, which usually sets the trends, women were allowed to vote 1920. The following year women in Sweden were given the right to vote, but in India the voting rights for men and women didn't become equal until the year 1947 (according to Wikipedia). Why am I talking about this now? This year it's ELECTION in Sweden. This week is PRIDE WEEK in Växjö. We've come far in equality and yet we still have a long way to go.
